SPACE
SCAN TECHNOLOGIES When Colbert White was young, he wanted to be a doctor so he could carry a bag and work on patients. Instead, what he discovered was a love of electronics and computers. Colbert has spent his career working for companies such as Norvan, RCA, GE, and Ford where he worked on the CADCAM equipment for both Louisville manufacturing plants. In 1993 he formed Space Scan Technologies with his wife and business partner, Karen. The company is a custom builder of workstations, personal computers, and network servers for a variety of applications, including the Jefferson County Public Schools, Wendys restaurants, the national Baptist Publishing Board in Nashville, and Insight Communications. The company also provides on-site service and support for Windows NT/2000, and installs Internet and intranet systems. The company was certified as a Minority-Owned Business in 1994 by KMSDC. The company has four fulltime employees including one who specializes in printers. In addition to the computer aspect of the business, Space Scan Technologies also sells and installs home theater systems, including High-Definition Televisions, stereos, and the like, with a demonstration area set up in the office. Colbert White never made it to medical school. But he does consider himself a doctor he carries a briefcase instead of a medical bag and the patients he works with are electronic rather than human!
