TRI-STATE BRICK & BLOCK, LLC.

Building a Strong Foundation Through Experience

When Mark G. Parks wanted to open a business as a supplier of masonry materials, he didn't have any experience or knowledge of the construction or supply industry. What he did possess was a tenacious spirit and keen business savvy. That combined with his in-depth knowledge and the exceptional partnership with Dana Cosby Williams (her parents are the founders of the David L. Cosby Construction Company) formed Tri-State Brick & Block, LLC in March 2000.

Eighteen months later, the company, supplies top quality products and services to the areas leading construction, masonry and building contractors. Their focus is to provide customers with premier products while providing responsive customer service. "Our customer's satisfaction is imperative," says Parks. "Business is growing and that is all attributed to our relationships with our customers."

Tri-State is located in the Shelby Park neighborhood, within Louisville's Empowerment Zone. "It was important to locate the business in an area that would promote economic growth," says Parks. The facility provides temporary warehousing of materials and accessories. Tri-State also offers an on-site blueprint reading and same-day delivery services. Daily deliveries to jobsites eliminate the need for large warehousing and storage. The company is researching the manufacturing of their own brick and block in the future.

Tri-State has supplied materials for Home Depot, St. Stephen Baptist Church, Walgreens, Tumbleweed Restaurants, Marriott Hotels and Park DuValle. The company has recently been awarded their first initiative with the Jefferson County Public Schools. They have also expanded their focus to include the Chicago area. "There are so many opportunities available, you must be willing to take the chance," says Parks.

The future looks bright for Tri-State Brick & Block, LLC. The company is slated to open two new locations in Ohio and Indiana in 2002 and 2003.
