JY LEGNER ASSOCIATES, INC.

After many years of working in the fields of research and engineering, Jozi Legner decided to venture out on her own. She saw a need in the engineering community and has used her skills, combined with those of Vice President, Matt Linville, to create a successful business that works with some of this area’s top engineering firms and utility companies.

J.Y. Legner Associates, Inc. (JYLA) performs land acquisition/easement acquisition and research, contracting, and staffing services for companies such as the Louisville Water Company, MSD, Tetratech/PDR, QK4, Gresham Smith and Partners and PEH Engineers. Started in 1999, the company averages 20-25 full and part time employees, depending on their current projects.

In October 2001, Ann Shively-Branch joined the team as Director of Human Relations. Ann heads up the staffing and long-term employee leasing functions of JYLA. The company initially supplied engineering firms and utility companies with technical support personnel - EIT, CADD technicians, construction inspectors and engineering clerks to name a few. They are now expanding into other areas including office management, administrative support, accounts payable personnel customer service representatives and general office staff. They offer contract-to-hire placements as well as professional placement services. Ann has an extensive background in Human Resources and that is evidenced in their successful placements with firms across the region. As a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), they provide an integrated and cost effective approach to the management and administration of human resources for their clients.

The personnel of JYL Contractors, a division of JYLA, have over 25 years combined experience in the installation and maintenance of water main distribution systems. They provide services from installation of fire hydrants and water service connections to lead service renewals and concrete restoration.

Approximately one-third of their business comes from the Property/Land Acquisitions Services. This division provides seasoned researchers, acquisition agents and certified appraisers to serve as liaisons between engineering firms or utility companies and property owners. Their multi-disciplined and highly-professional approach enables them to team with large engineering firms to assist during a “crunch time” – when large volumes of work become overwhelming. They recently worked with QK4 (formerly Presnell Associates) to conduct a cost analysis for the Portland Neighborhood Redevelopment Project.

This growing business continues to receive praises from their ever-increasing list of customers. As customers such as the Louisville Water Company can attest to, they value customer satisfaction as key to their success.
