MED AWARDS BANQUET GALA

Individuals, corporations and minority enterprises that have made outstanding contributions to advance minority business development during the last year will be recognized at the annual Kentuckiana Minority Supplier Development Council Minority Enterprise Development Awards celebration scheduled for November 17 in the Seelbach Hilton’s Medallion Ballroom at 6:00 PM.

Keynote
Speaker

The keynote speaker for the dinner will be Therman E. Evans, M. D., the President & CEO of WHOLELIFE Associates, Inc. Dr. Evans is the former vice-president and Corporate Medical Director of the CIGNA Corporation, one of the largest healthcare companies in the United States. Dr. Evans has been heralded as "Mr. Inspiration" and "America’s Most Inspirational Speaker" by national newspapers and magazines as well as regional and local senior executives of leading businesses, organizations and institutions. He addresses wellness (inclusive of fitness and nutrition), diversity, stress management, education and dealing with change.

Dr. Evans received his medical degree in 1971 from Howard University. He has served on the clinical faculty of Howard and has been a visiting Regent’s Scholar-Lecturer at the University of California, San Diego, as a member of the Commission on the Continued Vitality of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Evans is a Fellow of the Philadelphia College of Physicians. He has received numerous honors and awards, including two honorary doctorate degrees, one from Rust College in Mississippi, the other from Bethune Cookman College in Florida.

He has received the "Keys to the City" and "Recognition" days in seven cities throughout the U.S. He is also a Chief of a Village in Senya Beraku, West Africa and the Assistant Pastor of Morning Star Community Tabernacle in Linden, N. J. He, his wife, Bernetta, and his two sons reside in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.

Arthur L. Gleason, President & CEO of the Kentucky Lottery Corporation will be the Honorary Chair for this year’s MED Awards dinner. Sharon Gardner, Vice President, Human Resources, Norton Healthcare is the the event Chair. They, along with the City of Louisville and Jefferson County government, are specific sponsors of this year’s awards ceremony.

This year’s entertainment will be provided by Caliente Productions, "Louisville’s only connection to Latin American Arts & Entertainment," according to Carletta DeLonjay, President. Caliente Productions presents the Hispanic group O’Bossa, featuring live bossonova dance performances, salsa & mambo music.

Tickets are $75.00 per person and $750.00 per table of 10. Limited seating is available. KMSDC is one of 41 regional affiliate councils of the National Minority Supplier Development Council and the only private agency exclusively certifying minority-owned businesses in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. KMSDC is in its 26th year of service.
